Walking among giants

We attended the Aarhus Sandskulptur Festival today at Marselisborg LystbÄdehavn in Tangkrogen. It was a 12km bike ride round trip, and the boys did great!

The theme of all the amazing sculptures was, "Land of the Giants," and so featured some famous giants like Goliath, and the Giant from Jack and the Beanstalk.  It was a very foggy day by the bay, so the huge sand sculptures took on a mystical appearance as they were enshrouded in mist.  Pretty neat effect.

And of course, no Danish festival would be complete without a giant mermaid ...

  1. Those look fantastic! People do things outside?! Denmark in summer is TOTALLY DIFFERENT from the Denmark we experienced in the bitter, dark, cold of winter. I am so happy you're all enjoying yourselves!

    1. Apparently there are a number of holidays and festivals coming up ... they must save them all up for the summer!

  2. You've inspired us to restart our blog. Our first post is on the sand castles as well! I am impressed that the kids biked all the way there, not to mention biking uphill the entire way home.

    1. I love it, Liz! You got the sunny day at the Sandskulptur Festival -- and nice photos! The uphill biking got to Rohan; we decided to take a break today and hang out close to home.
